The new Goldmund Mimesis 28
Goldmund presented in September 1997 the first new Mimesis 28 stereo amplifier during the Tokyo High-end Show.
From the first customer’s reactions, it is obvious that this new amplifier will be remembered as a milestone for our company.
Very similar to the Mimesis 29, using the same JOB circuit and only slightly less powerful, it shares with the Mimesis 29 it’s extraordinary sound quality and anthority, but at a very much more affordable price. This is probably the main reason of its immediate success. Ideal for multi-amping system, small systems using low efficiency speakers, its extreme delineation and transparency have never be found before in such a powerful and structural amplifier.
Using the same power supply structure as the Mimesis 29 with 4 separate transformers, its power supply speed is unique in its price range. Associated with the now proven JOB circuitry, this power supply makes the Mimesis 28 a transient winner, whatever the level could be. Keeping its bandwidth up to the maximum power, its time response is effectively nearly perfect in the audio domain, far ahead in this domain from any other high-end competition amplifier.
If the Mimesis 28 continues on its first trend, it will undisputably become the fastest selling amplifier ever made by Goldmund.

The Goldmund Home Theater position clarified and More
The Goldmund position vs Home-Theater has recently been clarified during a press meeting held in Tokyo for the last Japanese High-End Show
Obviously, what is important in the title of this page is not the Goldmund Commitment to Home-Theater, which was already clear for few years, but the last two words of the title “and More”… First Goldmund presented a working prototype of its Remote-Control Stand-alone Touch-screen Computer with a full Mimesis 20/22/24 control software. This sophisticated remote-controller will fully integrate the full system described below. But it can also be used in stand-alone to control a Mimesis 20 and a MImesis 22, as well as a full video projector-switch in a Home-Theater environment, greatly helping the system configuration and control. It should be available for sales early next year.
But the most important is probably the following:
In brief, Goldmund announced its current development in collaboration with Barco of the first Goldmund video product, the Goldmund Projector, which should become the highest resolution projector in existence, and also a totally silent one for extreme high-end Audio-Video installations where any noise must be avoided. This product should be introduced next year in the first demonstration room opening in Geneva (see below).
Goldmund confirmed that the full Epilogue Speaker will be available early next year with the capability to be used as an ultra-high-end Home Theater speaker system.
Goldmund announced also that the control of the whole Goldmund Home Theater system will be achieved by a PC Compatible Computer especially developed and which should be presented during the Las Vegas CES in next January. In order to facilitate the attachement of any type of components and to make the functions totally automatic, the computer solution has been chosen instead of the typical dedicated control system like AMX or Crestron. With a much easier set-up and a much more powerful set of functions, the control computer should ease complex installation, multi-room automated systems, etc…
Obviously Goldmund has decided to help the best Custom Installation Companies set up the ultra-high-end Home Theater of the future. This should come as a great satisfaction for the numerous high-end dealers, especially in the USA, who were not able to sell to their most demanding customers the top quality audio and video components (Goldmund among others !) because their connectivity in a complicated installation was not possible.
The firm also brought a confirmation of the Mimesis 24 Video Controller as a software module in the new computer system, able to communicate with top brand projectors and switchers (Barco, Ampro, Sony, ElectroHome, Vidikron, etc…).
The Goldmund Computer system will also be given progressively functions of signal processing first in the audio domain, then even in the video domain. More precision will be given by the company when the central control computer becomes available.
More, in order to provide a marketing tool to its top dealers, Goldmund has confirmed that, starting in 1998, several demonstration rooms will be opened displaying the full Audio-Video-Computer Goldmund system. Some high-end dealers have already confirmed that they will house such a very unique Goldmund demonstration room.
In the final conclusion of its presentation, Goldmund concluded that the era of high-end Home-Theater was now becoming a reality, but will soon be rather called high-end PC-Theater, with most of the today’s functionallity and signal processing concentrated in standard PC Compatible computers rather than in separate expensive components. The final announcements and product first presentation should be made in Vegas.
