New Products - Product Improvements
The return of Stellavox on the front row, thanks to a Goldmund technology.
We, at Goldmund, are proud to announce that the first product introduced by Stellavox for the few past years is based on a Goldmund exclusive technology provided on a license basis. The Stellavox ST2 professional D/A Converter is probably the most advanced D/A existing today for the professional users. With its 3 selectable inputs, the ST2 shares the technology developed by Goldmund for the SRDA and already licensed to JOB. In addition to its hi-fi counterparts the Stellavox machine provides balanced outputs, with the same exceptional time alignment (<100ps) than the other Goldmund Alize units.
When the ST2 was presented to the Press, the Stellavox spokesman already unveiled some of the other coming Stellavox products, among them A/D units and also computer cards and software that Goldmund may, as a counterpart, use inside its products of the future.
To aquestion asked, he also confirmed that the 96kHz version would come soon and all field units would be upgradable.
Exciting, isn’t it ?
Goldmund should enter in the Video domain before the third Millennium.
You know for long that we are preparing our entry in Video.
If you read us carefully, you probably also know that the target fixed for our entry has been the “Full Digital Video” availability. We were absolutely not impressed by the cascade of D/A and A/D so-called 10 bits converters (which they can’t be) that you build when simply using a DVD with a Faroudja and a DLP projector… That insane technology, destroying most video quality, did not attract us at all (we use it in our demonstration system, because nothing else was existing so far, but we do not like it).
All the various pathetic tentatives to “improve” the image (doublers, quadruplers, interpolators, scalers) were OK few years ago but look as helpful as a bandage on a dead body now.
What you may have not imagined is how soon Goldmund could be able to get into the arena with a “definitive” full-digital technology that will leave the other systems in the dust for quite some time.
Listen, folks, this time is coming !
The first product you should see announced will be our DVD machine…When ? Soon enough. This should be a phenomenal machine with some unique features, the most spectacular being the choice of video outputs : RGB ? Yes of course (forget the stupid Components Video output which is only a cheap RGB for the poor, not even accurately matrixed by most manufacturers) but also 4:2:2, a full Digital Video Format, only used by professional now, but which should become the absolute choice for the top PC-Theater system before the end of the year.
And you really have to see the difference.. Unbelievable.
Of course, the next unit had to be a “Goldmund Video Processor” of a totally new kind, and which will also remain 100% in the digital domain. More about that soon.
And finally we will have a Projector (or rather recommend one that we will slightly modify) which is also using the digital signal directly without conversion (so you may imagine it will not be CRT, but imagine it will break the 10k lumens barrier and will be as big as a 35mm projector… Woah..).
The result ?
You can’t even imagine it. We are already converting 35mm film guys and the quality of the picture is sufficient to make anybody die for it (he may anyhow when he sees the price…).
Hold your breath. And keep some green…
Marketing News
New Goldmund Record Quarter ! - The word of the President:
“With a spectacular growth of our net result of 22% over the same period in 1998, we reached a new record for our business during the 1999 first quarter.
We know the real high-end market must be booming, but anyhow, we did not expect such a good result and it makes us feel good.
Of course, we will never thank enough all our faithful customers, dealers and distributors who positioned Goldmund as one of the most successful brand in High End Audio, and each year more so.
With an exceptionally wide market distribution (25% in USA, 25% in Europe, 25% in Japan, and 25% in Asia), a definitive competitive advantage, Goldmund is now becoming less and less sensitive to any local market fluctuation.
With our very clear marketing position as one of the only High End Audio brand not interested in nostalgia (tubes, LPs, etc..), but deeply involved in advanced R&D and new technologies, Goldmund has been able to establish an extremely loyal base of customers who constantly improve their system and never turn back to less advanced technology.
With its deliberate orientation towards ultimate system performance, Goldmund has the luck to share the most remarkable customer base in the world where celebrities and tycoons are the rule rather than the exception.
With its strong emphasis into Home-Theater and Computer based applications, Goldmund is also probably the company which is today the most solicited to OEM its technology to other less advanced Audio companies, including from the Professional Audio field. This contributed greatly to our last quarters success.
Anyhow, thank you again to our faithful customers, skillful engineers and wonderful working team for this well won record !”
