Theater3 various configurations better explained.

The new Goldmund Theater3 Speaker System

With its unique double-enclosure construction, the new Goldmund Theater3 speaker system may be used in various music and Home-Theater speaker configurations :

  • 2 Speaker Stereo System.

By connecting both half of each speaker in parallel, the Theater3 system becomes a powerful stereo speaker with impedance between 3 and 6 ohms, easy to drive, very strong and extremely low in coloration.

  • 3 Speaker Home-Theater 5 channel System.

Each front speaker is divided in 2, the top half (or bottom half, depending on screen height) is used in mono for the phantom center channel. The other half for right and left front channels. The rear speaker is playing the rear right and rear left channels. It is located in the center, behind the listener. Additional Theater3 subwoofer (soon available), may be used ( one piece or two pieces) on sub channel to reinforce sub-bass (below 40Hz).

  • 5 Speaker Home-Theater 5 channel System.

All speakers are assembled with paralleled halves. The 2 front speakers are used for right and left front channels. A third speaker, the top half (or bottom half, depending on screen height) is used in mono for the phantom center channel. The other half for right and left front channels. The rear speaker is playing the rear right and rear left channels. It is located in the center, behind the listener. Additional Theater3 subwoofer (soon available), may be used ( one piece or two pieces) on sub channel to reinforce sub-bass (below 40Hz).

What happened to the Goldmund Chiasma ?

The Goldmund Chiasma was supposed to be on the market for several months. Despite presentation into various shows, the units remains unavailable and Goldmund has not commited to any final delivery date yet. You may wonder why ?

We explained already we were waiting for several technologies to become available. In fact, the final announcement of all the features of the Chiasma has been postponed because some parts were missing.

But it was not the only reason.

The main reason is we decided to integrate the Chiasma in a much more agresssive program which will include several new products for the Home-Theater, a new architecture and several very advanced new technologies like Firewire, Wireless connections, and Internet protocols which are barely out yet.

However, some questions may remain unanswered, and we are doing it on purpose. Little suspense may be needed…

Why is the Chiasma configured with a 37.5 GB hard disk ?

Why is the Chiasma configured with an ultra-fast CD-Rom ?

Why is the Chiasma waiting for the MP3+ license from AudioNetworks ?

Now guys, you just have to guess… Or wait for our 1st of January 2000 announcement… Or try to spy in our labs and wonder how we could listen to background music of highest quality coming from tiny boxes the size of a SRA and which can play for a year without playing twice the same music…

Just guess, and write us your ideas if you think you understand it. Just don’t tell the competition. Maybe we get new interesting new ideas that will postpone it a little bit more ? Just kidding…

We received several questions about the Goldmund Mimesis 21 availability.

The new Goldmund Mimesis 21 D/A Converter should be available for delivery next February.

The Mimesis 21 is the D/A Converter of the Goldmund “High-End” line of products. It will replace both the Mimesis 12 and the Mimesis 10 older designs.

We remind you it has 8 inputs, including one Toslink, one ATT, 3 AES/EBU XLR and 3 coaxial in standard, so it may be adapted to any quality system.

With its remote control volume and balance output, it may also become the digital preamplifier any today’s full digital system may have dreamed of. An RS232 connector on the rear panel provides software control and new software download capability.

Capable of 96kHz 24 bits conversion, it uses the new Alize2 Goldmund technology with its unique sound quality, perfect time alignment and exceptional definition.

The Goldmund Mimesis 21 appearance will exactly match those of the Mimesis 27 and its price should be similar so we have both a digital and an analogue preamplifier for you to choose.
