Theater3 is finally called Trilogue, just before release.

In order to avoid the nasty competition joke that was starting to poison our relation with Wilson (who was becoming nervous because Theater3 is pronounced Theater Cub by everybody), the Theater3 speaker is finally called Trilogue just before its release.

In the old dictionaries, Trilogue, coming from ancient Greek, is defined as “the conversation between three people”. A perfect evocation of the subtle coherence restored by our “Theater3” concept of mixing the three front channels. In any other configuration than the one provided by the Goldmund Trilogue, the 3 front channels, being physically separated, do not “speak together” and the incoherence is extremely detrimental to the on-screen sound imaging. By encouraging the natural imaging between the only two speakers and the subtle acoustic blend obtained by keeping together the right-left and center channels, the Goldmund Trilogue (got to get used to it now) provides a naturally spread image on the screen with height, depth, etc.. as in the good old days of stereo.

Presentation at the Osaka Show of our new SR2 and SR3 Home-Theater amplifiers.

Osaka High-End Audio Show Goldmund Demo

By November 1999 during the Osaka High-End Audio Show, our Japanese distributor presented the new SR2 and SR3 Home Theater amplifiers in its booth. Congratulations for the very good setup and the remarkably professional presentation made by their staff as well as the famous Japanese reviewers Mr Asanuma and Mr Sugano. Thanks to them all.

Why we decided not to attend the Vegas 2000 winter CES.

For the first time in more than 15 years, we won’t be in Vegas in January 2000 for the winter CES. Why is that so ?
Two reasons :

  • Old nostalgic Hi-fi is not our world of predilection anymore and the CES was becoming more a more, those last years, the museum of the living deads. More tube fanatics, dirty garage manufacturers, ugly setups in ugly hotels, shows inside the show inside the show, all secessionists, and literally no real technological progress. The world is moving to Home Theater now and the CEDIA will certainly replace the CES pretty soon. So we decided the change of century could be a good date to switch.
  • Main reason of being at the CES was to meet with our distributors from around the world but last year we had so many curiosity visitors that we had to refuse to see some of them. Bad business. We prefer to travel to visit them in a better planned environment, with more time available and that’s what we planned to do in 2000.

So, do not look for us in January at the Treasure Island…
