Goldmund Reference DVD Details

After showing you a first picture of the outside here is a little more technical picture showing the inside mechanical construction and the Goldmund modifications made to the original Pioneer mechanism. The parts in hard aluminum (silver color), brass (golden), mid-strength aluminum (green), and soft aluminum (red) are clearly visible and are connected in a way so the “Mechanical Grounding” effect is optimized. No plastic link anymore, ultra-precise rectified pivoting points, ultra-rigid skeleton for the reading mechanism and you already have part of the answer to the magical question : “Why does it sound so much better ?”.

Mimesis 30 is here and strong.

Mimesis 30 Prototype

After the tremendous success of the Mimesis 24 and its capability to redefine quality in the far-too-cheap-and-stupid Home-Theater traditional market, here comes the Mimesis 30, less than half the price, with little less input/output capability (only 16 output channels) but otherwise exactly identical inside and based on same algorithms, so achieving the same quality. With its capability to free the number and placement of speakers in a room, its phenomenal sound quality and its extraordinary ease of use, the Mimesis 30 has be planned by Goldmund as its best seller for 2004. First prototype being ready, production ETA is 1st Q 04. You never heard that before…

Will 2004 be Goldmund’s Video Year ?

After the Mimesis 24 and the 2003 success of the Goldmund entry in Home-Theater affordable market with the spectacular active Logos speaker, 2004 could well be the Video year for our company.

Three new products will be presented by Goldmund at the Las Vegas Bellagio yearly meeting in January.

The Eidos 720 will be the first Goldmund projector. Its incredible mechanical construction quality, power supply refinement and DVI-direct inputs are obvious just looking at it.

Then comes the Eidos 31, the Video Processor associated to the Mimesis 30 Audio Processor. With its highest quality scaler, input switching and conversion capability, the Eidos 31 will be the ideal partner of a DVI-equipped Goldmund DVD Player and a DVI-Native Eidos 720 projector.

And comes the Plasma displays, still in prototypes and where the same principles will apply.

Internet Sales Beware !

The Internet is a very good support for us because it distributes the most accurate information directly from the manufacturer to the end-user.

However Internet has its drawbacks. More and more Audio and Video products of any international provenance are now proposed for sale on the Internet by end-users trying to sell them faster by proposing them worldwide. For a basic product, this may be a good thing, as it can be for highly collectable items. However, in most case of very high technology products, the danger is considerable since no installation competence is accessible to the buyer.

More, most high-end manufacturers relate their warranty to the dealer who sold the product first. When you buy in Virginia a DVD player initially sold in Singapore, you better have no technical question or problem or the cost will become much higher than buying it locally.

Since most serious manufacturers have, as Goldmund has, very similar prices around the world, the game doesn’t worth taking the risk.

This is why very few of Goldmund products have ever appeared in this Internet secondhand market.

In addition to Internet, some unscrupulous dealers (like the famous Guarantee Audio in Hong Kong or now HiendClub in Michigan pretending to serve Korea) have started to propose “brand new” Goldmund products obviously providing from the Internet secondhand sales or even more obscure source. Not being part of the Goldmund official Authorized Dealer list (as published on our Web site), they would not get warranty for Goldmund to support their customer, so the problem did not disturb us too much.

Alas, recently, we found out, among these dealers, offers for some Goldmund products which had been stolen during shipment few months before. This is far more dangerous and we have to alert all potential Goldmund buyers. If you buy such a product without knowing its exact history (and you cant trust it since these unscrupulous guys remove the serial number…), you risk to get a stolen product which could drive you (and the dealer) to jail.

Our products are made to provide enlightenment and peace. Not to send the FBI to your door… Beware !
