New Products - Product Improvements
The First listening results of the Epilogue 1
We did not expect such an unanimous approval for the Epilogue 1 satellite system. The first feedback is a success. The Epilogue 1 seem to stand as the highest quality speaker ever produced. Despite it’s dimension limits, the very extensive and transparent bass response (34Hz cutoff !) and the wonderful treble range (>28kHz bandwidth), the cabinet extraordinary deadness (thanks to the full metal and mechanichal grounding construction) and the high level reachable have made immediately the Epilogue 1 a very high end product, without real competition.
More feet designs for the Epilogue 1
If you liked the speaker, you didn’t like much the first generation of the first feet we designed for the Epilogue. Not up to the Goldmund level ? Thanks to our Japanese distributor, Stellavox Japan, we will be able to propose another finish soon. Stay tuned.
Technical Corner
The Mimesis PH2 may finally play perfectly with low impedance cartridges
We had diffficulties so far using very low impedance cartridges with the Miemesis PH2. Noise was clearly too high. We may have found a way to correct this limitation. If you are the owner of a Mimesis PH2, please contact us to get the fix. It is also published on the web site, see our troubleshooting pages.

First tests of real DVD disks
The first DVD demo disks we received from Japan were very, very disappointing. We had recently the chance to fully test a DVD unit (Panasonic) with films finally edited for this new format and that we acquired in Japan. Two immediate results. First the picture is of extremely high quality, especially on fixed views, superior in this case to but the best Laser discs (we needed to use a Pioneer X9, the best LD player we know, to get something of that type of quality). On moving pictures, there may be a visible limitation due to the image compression (also existing onm LDs), but in general the result is superb. Very good sub-titles too, and multi-language helps. The second surprise is in the sound quality despite the AC3 encoding and compression. If not as dynamic as the uncompressed channels of the best LDs, it remains quite smooth and defined. More, it seems the DVD player is also a superb CD player (maybe due to the better resolution of the CD transport itself), but we will come back to this later.
More pictures and software available now from our FTP Site
We have implemented numerous new pictures in our FTP site, both for new products and details of the old ones. On the site, you can also download the latest version (Release 0.7) of the Mimesis 20 and Mimesis 22 software.
