New Products - Product Improvements
Goldmund announces the Mimesis 28.4 monoral Amplifier.
As a logical follow-up of the success of the Mimesis 28, Goldmund announces today the availability by May 1998 of the mono version of the same design. With a nominal instantaneous power of 600W on 8 Ohms but twice more current capability, the Mimesis 28.4 will drive anything. It receives the full safety features, including temperature control found in the Mimesis 29.4.
The SRDA becomes immediately the best D/A value ever announced by Goldmund - First listening reactions.
We expected you to like it. You loved it… We expected to receive big initial orders, we received huge ones… The SR D/A converter is becoming for the last few days our biggest success in D/A technology ever. The unit uses our latest Alize technology, is reasonably priced, holds the 24 bits, and is as well time aligned as the Mimesis 20, sounding as beautifully analogue, if less sophisticated. Most of the first customers who approached one had the same reaction : they called it the “baby 20”. Probably the best compliment possible. With its 3 switchable inputs (each being simultaneously usable in SPDIF and AES), it is a practical unit. With its unique module working in 24 bits and its extraordinary 100 picosecond time alignment, the SRDA could become an historical piece of equipment quite fast. Who could complain, but competition… Who cares…
The availability of the last Anniversary Reference Turntable
Still available guys, the LAST GOLDMUND TURNTABLE ! A collector item, musical pleasure and indisputable status symbol. Hurry up!
Goldmund claims its current position Vs the (so-called) better 24bits 96kHz format.
We needed to know better before making this new format a standard Goldmund feature. Our upcoming A/D pluggable module for the Mimesis 22 will have this mode available because professional may need it but it is better we tell you the truth : it won’t be better than the 24 bits 48kHz that we have now, probably slightly worse. The explanation is simple : 24 bits 96kHz is far beyond current technology capability, and you add more artifacts than you cure. A very interesting article has been published recently by Mr Watkinson the absolute expert in digital which explains it quite clearly. You can read it in Studio Sound dated March 98. More, and the article destroy them nicely, the manufacturers claiming today they have the 24bits 96kHz working nicely are fooling you nice nice… Be careful.
New Goldmund Epi-Foot, a universally acclaimed improvement.
You already know nobody liked our early design of the Goldmund Epi-Foot for the Epilogue 1. We told you in these pages. So we worked hard and the latest edition we launched has received universal approval, so we are glad to present it to you : the new and only (for now on) Goldmund Epi-Foot :
Improved 29/29.4 safety circuit adds soft start.
We had complaints from some countries where the regulations for home power safety breakers are tough because powering a pair of Mimesis 29.4 was sometimes shutting down the breaker. Now the 29 and 29.4 are both equipped with a “soft start” circuit that pulls more gently on the mains when the beasts are powered on.
Goldmund has new success with often forgotten products : The CD table and the SR Speaker Cable.
If you are waiting weeks to get your Goldmund table shelves or a pair of SR speaker cable you can blame us twice. First we did not make enough of those to match the today’s demand and second we didn’t tell you how good they were so it took you a long time to react when we thought you did not like them. Oh Boy.. The reaction was late but it is a big one. Everybody is catching these days. So, be patient, we try to catch too…
Sales offer for the best converter after the Mimesis 20 : the Mimesis 10++
Consult your local dealer. The Mimesis 10++ is becoming available at a very attractive price during this spring. Using the new Alize technology like the SRDA, but with all the previous features of the famous Mimesis 10, it could be your next converter for a good price.
