New Products - Product Improvements

The phenomenal SRI2 new Integrated Amplifier.

You know it is coming but you did not hear it yet. So let us tell you a little bit more about our first listening experiences.

First you know it already, the new Goldmund SRI2 is based on the JOB circuit, unlike its predecessor, the first Goldmund SR Integrated amplifier. What we improved in addition is the available power. More than 150W per channel on 8 Ohms before clipping, this is more than you can expect, especially if you think you have now the exact copy of the SRM circuit which was acclaimed in the press all around the world as the best transistor sound ever made in a small amplifier.

The remote control volume is more than a practical feature, it is a necessity. The way we did it, taking the same principles used in the Mimesis 27, is also a guarantee of sound quality: rather than using a cheap electronic volume control like our competition, we use a real motor-driven high-grade potentiometer. The solution, quite expensive, is dramatically better for such a reasonably priced unit.

Production is starting in full quantity as early as January 1999. You better take your waiting list position right now…

The first A/D converter from Goldmund already shows extreme performance.

Initially designed for the Goldmund Home-Theater configuration using the Mimesis 22, the A/D circuit we developed will have several other usages. Capable of any format Analog to Digital conversion, including the 96kHz 24 bits format which makes everything these days on paper but do not display very convincing results so far for the listener, the Goldmund A/D conversion module is ubiquitous.

Its use inside the Mimesis 22 provides a Digital output to any of the old traditional Analogue sources that Audiophiles still enjoy, like LP players, Tuners, etc…

More practically, used in the Goldmund PC-Theater application, it will convert TV sound, VHS tape sound, old LD’s sound etc.. to feed the digital-only Audio input of the Goldmund Processor (The Goldmund Chiasma). Future applications are stand-alone A/D Converters, Digital Mike applications etc…should follow. Availability is planned for early 1999.

Marketing News

Goldmund wins 2 COTY this year, a very rare honor.

The prestigious Japanese magazine Stereo Sound has voted two Goldmund products this year as best “Components of the Year” : The Epilogue Full Speaker System and the Mimesis 29.4 Mono Ultimate Power amplifier. Being nominated twice in a single year among the 26 selected product is a remarkable performance for Goldmund that we should thank our fantastic Japanese distributor Hideaki Nishikawa for. But even more exceptional is the fact that Goldmund has won a nomination each and every year since we started the Stellavox Japan company. Quite an achievement, indeed… Thank you Hideaki.

The new Goldmund Web Site difficult access from buggy browsers.

Sorry for more trouble again on our Web Site. If you try using it with the new beta release of Internet Explorer 5 you will be blocked. The scripts we use are not working with this version. Microsoft, the bug champion, did it again ! We already experienced difficulties with the Internet Explorer 3 in some configurations which were not working the way they should, and only the Internet Explorer 4 is giving us no problem so far. Using Netscape, all versions, is a dream, especially the latest 4.5 which is faster and safer than ever…

On another front, we still have no satisfaction with the Netscape 4.06 delivered today with Linux. If some among our usual visitors may help us improve our site when they visit it from Unix or Linux they would help us a lot. Silicon Graphics Netscape 3 Version is OK, but the Linux more recent browser is far from satisfactory. Anyhow, we currently try hard to improve our pages to be read by these browsers. Let us know what you think.

Last minute information : we seem to have corrected the IE3 faults with a new script. Let us know if you still have problems.

JOB, our sister company, drops a bomb !

Job is announcing at the coming CES a phenomenal bargain : the JOB 200 power amplifier. Sold for less than $1000, it uses the traditional Job circuit with all its speed and sonic transparency but with a power up to 500W on 4 Ohms before clipping. We, at Goldmund, would have dreamed of a more sophisticated chassis and better finish, but the price is appalling, isn’t it ?

Goldmund at the Las Vegas CES.

This year again, we will have a private reception suite at the Treasure Island Hotel in Las Vegas during the show time. If you plan to visit us, please request information since this is strictly on invitation. We should display 7 working new products that will progressively appear during 1999, among those the Chiasma and the new SRI2. Others should remain confidential for now. We would be very happy to show them to you if you are around. Please contact us.
