Theater3 Speaker will be here soon.

Theater3 Speaker Prototype

What you see here is the first assembled prototype of our new Home-Theater Speaker, the Goldmund Theater3.

As explained before the new speaker is made to work in a 3 speaker system for Home Theater where the Front, Center and Subwoofer channels are perfectly aligned. (See our technology explanation page ).

The Speaker is in fact made of two internal separate cabinets, each using one woofer and one tweeter.

The 20cm (8”) Woofer is a proprietary design using our Goldmund “Velvet Kevlar” cone and an extremely powerful motor. It is already used inside the Epilogue 2 and 3. Using 2 of them, the Theater3 has better than 90dB efficiency and a low frequency cutoff well below 40Hz.

When used in a Stereo System, both cabinets are fed in parallel providing high efficiency high dynamics with extremely low coloration.

When used in a 5.1 channel system, the lower part of the cabinet is separated and fed by the Center Channel in Phantom Mono, when the upper part of each speaker reproduces the Right and Left front channels. Keeping the center and front channels perfectly time aligned and using the same type of drivers and crossovers provide a coherency and imaging on the screen far more natural and 3-dimensional.

As a Stereo Speaker, the Theater3 is a killer in quality for the price. In a Home-Theater setup, it has absolutely no equivalent.

Availability is planned for October 1999.

Another Record Quarter for Goldmund !

Is the high-end market really so explosive these days ?

We don’t know the reasons but Goldmund is registering a record second quarter after the first quarter we already announced. Pretty impressive…

Of course, the quality of our products is better than ever, with less and less returns under warranty, the production delays are much better managed and our subcontractors have never been so punctual. Those are certainly participating internal reasons.

Maybe our product line is better adapted to the market despite our late introduction of real Home-Theater products (we are afraid of the rush when those will appear).

Certainly our distribution network is improving with more dedicated dealers, new distributors in some critical countries like Italy and China.

But the main reason certainly remains that our customers are giving us their confidence.

So we must thank you, all of you, who are purchasing our products and (we hope) enjoying music with them.

Thank you again.
