New Products - Product Improvements
New Remote control for the Goldmund top components.
The Pronto is becoming very quickly the best and most widely used Remote control for a complete Audio or A/V System. To provide a help to the installers who decided to use it, Goldmund has developed few software programs which are providing the control of the Mimesis 20, Mimesis 22 and Mimesis 36 for the owner of a Pronto. You will be able to visit our download section and download those within a few days.
And of course, we have more to come, including grouped products solutions so you may use only one pronto for several components.
Mimesis 28+ available.
The Mimesis 28+ is now available with first deliveries in September. The new Mimesis 28+ takes the new look enhancement of the Mimesis 27+ with new thick aluminum side panels and cover. Mimesis 28 may be easily upgraded, even without sending back the amplifier to the factory. It is obvious the same kit may be used on a Mimesis 28.4.
Marketing News
The Goldmund Millennium subscription list is already quite impressive. Hurry up !
The “Absolute” Goldmund amplifier (see our last newsletters and our new web site) is available by Subscription only.
Subscribers are now able to reserve their amplifiers by putting down a subscription deposit (contact one of the Goldmund Dealers or Distributors), and may optionally choose in the list of available serial numbers if they want their unit better matching their taste.
Delivery will start in December 2000 and will be made in the order of the Subscription.
Considering the numerous hand tuned parts of the amplifier, the speed of deliveries should be quite low.
Now if you want to know everything about the Millennium, we just opened a new specialized Web Site. Consult our Goldmund Web Site latest news… This Web site will progressively be filled with all the details, pictures and data that we may have on our new baby…
During the 4 last weeks we already received a lot of orders and we are starting to acknowledge those with their allocated serial numbers. Be patient, already quite a few will have their amplifiers only in 2001… Hurry up if you want them soon.
News from the DVD upgrade front
The Goldmund CD transports have acquired around the world the reputation of being the best sounding ever made. We know customers who already planned to keep their Mimesis 36 or Mimesis 39 even if we announce in the future the best DVD in the world. In order to please the others we have made an extensive study of the best existing DVD technology and we planned to announce upgrades for the Mimesis 36 or Mimesis 39 users for them to migrate to this new support.
However, the results we have now accumulated have in common a limitation which is not really favorable for these potential upgrade buyers and we want to make it clear right away :NO DVD transport technology existing or planned to exist soon will ever reach the sonic quality of a Mimesis 36 or even Mimesis 39 when playing CDs. The radical difference in speed between the two types of discs is far more a problem that we believed initially and cannot be overcome with any existing solutions, even by the improved mechanical solutions designed by Goldmund.
It means that, at the level of quality reached by the Goldmund CD transports, we are unable to keep your CD sound if you migrate to a mixed DVD/CD transport. If you migrate you will loose a big part of your CD listening pleasure… Acceptable ? We doubt. Solutions : we will make beautiful DVD Video and DVD Audio machines, but we urge you to keep your CD transport as it is. If the upgrade policy we planned is still a must for you, OK, but do not complain afterwards for what you have lost… And let us know. We are reluctant to launch any upgrade product without finding your interest is still there.
