GOLDMUND - Swiss Made High-End Audio Equipment

With the phenomenal sound improvement brought by the new JOB3 circuit inside the Millennium, you all expected it…

Yes, from now on, and starting with our June production batches, the Goldmund Mimesis 29 and 29.4 will now receive a simplified version of the JOB3, a close copy of the Millennium circuit, even if using slightly less exotic (less expensive) components.

The gain in sound quality is extremely significant, placing now the Mimesis 29 and 29.4 much closer to the Millennium.

Much improved bass control, dynamics, transparency and detail are obvious, as is a much sweeter sound, report the first listeners.

The technical reasons behind this sound quality improvement are:

• A much better power supply noise rejection brought by the new JOB3 modified schematics.
• An even lower distortion level, especially for crossover distortion at low signal level.
• A much improved sound quality of some critical electronic components (especially resistors)
• An even improved speed and time accuracy.

The new Mimesis 29 and Mimesis 29.4 will now be called the Mimesis 29M Millennium Edition and Mimesis 29.4M Millennium Edition in reference to their illustrious predecessor.

In addition to the new JOB3 circuit and its much improved sound quality, the new Mimesis 29M and 29.4M will receive a totally redesigned front panel circuit with a lot of new features :

• New Soft-Start circuitry, inspired by the Millennium circuitry, avoiding the serious current surge at power-on, which was making the most sensitive circuit-breakers in the house suffer or simply refuse to stay on…
• New front panel microprocessor circuit providing a much more stable (and upgradable) software control of all the amplifier features.
• New sequencing software function, allowing a group of amplifiers (some of our customers are using 8 of them, you know !) to be started together without breaking not only the house breakers, but also the building or neighborhood one ! Each amp may now receive a sequence number which will make it start slightly after the previous one.
• Much improved 8 digits alphanumeric front panel display with full text message capability to describe internal events controlled by the processor.
• Serial Port and industry-standard DC starting controls for home automation use.
• Autostart selectable function to start the amp automatically when modulation is applied and turn it off automatically after a set time. This makes the use of several amps (in multi-amping or multi-channel systems) much easier, especially when combined with the sequencing function. No need to turn the amps on and off by hand anymore.

With all these new features and improvements, the Mimesis 29M and 29.4M will get slightly more expensive.

In the same time, the today’s version remains totally upgradable with a full replacement of the internal circuitry (so with a significant cost, of course) and requesting to send the amps back to the factory.

Of course, the next question immediately comes : will the Mimesis 28 and 28.4 receive the same treatment soon ?

The answer is yes, absolutely, even if we have to apply a steeper price increase and not exactly the same circuit to maintain the cost within reasonable limits. Do not expect the Mimesis 28M and 28.4M Millennium Edition before July or August. Prices will be announced later.

Oh My…! That was a shock ! We told you we were designing the new version of our D/A circuit and you could expect a substantial sonic improvement…

Yes, but we did not expect such a difference.

The Alize 3 is a totally redesigned version of our long established Alize 2 technology. With its new anti-aliasing filter schematics and the use of several Millennium-level components, the Alize 3 is obviously several steps ahead. Totally open, much sweeter sounding, with improved dynamics and even better time response, the Alize 3 is the best D/A converter circuit we ever heard, at any price.

Available in a single module version for using both in the SRDA2 and the Mimesis 21+, the new module is pin-to-pin compatible with the previous version and will be available separately as an upgrade for those anxious to stay ahead.

It is immediately included in the June production of the Mimesis 21+ and SRDA2. No doubt that we will use it in an even more refined version for the next improvement of the Mimesis 20 we are working on.

With a great success during its first presentation in Las Vegas last January, we had to make the Goldmund Logos Speaker for real.

It’s done ! We expect the first production units to be assembled by late June.

Let’s remind you that the Logos is mechanically built like a small Epilogue, with the same type of full metal construction, using the same kind of highest quality drivers and crossover components, but with very small dimensions. Like the Trilogue, the Logos is a two-channel-single-speaker, with two identical built-in 2-way systems inside, each equipped with a port-loaded 13cm (5”) woofer and a soft-dome tweeter. The system dimension is 50cm x 20cm x 20cm (19.5” x 7.8” x 7.8”) and its weight is around 20kg (44lbs). It will be made available with a mounting bracket that allows to attach it to the wall or to make it stand on a bookshelf.

By its 2 channel construction, the new Goldmund Logos will find its most natural use in very simple 5 channel systems where only 3 speaker units (1 on each side of the screen and one on the back) are needed. Thanks to its size, it is the ideal complement of a wall-mounted top plasma panel with one speaker attached vertically on each side of the screen, one of their 2 channels being used in mono for the center channel. The Logos is the perfect speaker to build a Goldmund TH3 configuration, the ideal solution to recreate the most natural, time-aligned front speaker system in a Home-Theater.

It may also be a very convenient single-stereo bookshelf system in a secondary room system, easy to locate, with the most natural soundstage recreation, and without the burden of ideally locating two separate speakers.

With such a number of new products announcement, and great advances in technology, our 2001 June month will set a record in Goldmund history for our R&D team.

We never had so many developing engineers working together on so many projects, but the results are here. When all these new babies will be here, just listen and judge by yourself.

However, all these new goodies and the fabulous recent success of the Goldmund products around the world may be only the beginning of something even bigger, just wait !

We usually present our achievements at a more final stage of the project… But this is to show you that the showroom we are building in Los Angeles for Goldmund is for real, or at least is becoming so. Only a bit too young for the moment to be used as a showroom, but we will continue presenting you the successive phases of this very important (and costly) project.

Let’s remind you this will become the house where all the future Home-Theater and Home-Automation products will be demonstrated in real time for our top VIP customers. With 4000 sqft (370 m2) of display, and all the Goldmund level of products from the top Ultimate Epilogue system to the smallest Logos + Plasma Home-Theater, the house will display something like 5 separate Home-Theater systems, all the Goldmund Internet-connected Music Server products currently under development and will also be used as a base for the Goldmund USA Custom-Shop Center, the dream center of the affluent…
