GOLDMUND - Swiss Made High-End Audio Equipment

We presented in Las Vegas during the last CES show the new Goldmund Chiasma 1 and its Music Server features.

That, you already know.

What was the absolute surprise is that we shown it distributing music to other room installations without any connection !

By using standard computer technology and a lot of smart software changes, Goldmund has been able to present what even large manufacturers didn’t have yet : High-end quality Wireless Audio distribution.

In addition to the Chiasma itself, the system requires, for each room playing music from the server a Goldmund “Receiver” (also called Thin Client) currently under development. It requires also, for each location where the system has to be controlled, a wireless WebPad controller.

For absolute quality, the full transmission and the Receiver itself are 100% digital. Only the final D/A converter and its clocking quality does the sound quality, explaining why we may claim absolute Goldmund sound quality. Here are our unique advantages:

• First the music is ripped into the Chiasma 1 not as music but as data (only 0 and 1 are read, and transferred to the hard disk). It is fater and 100% accurate.
• Second, it is stored without compression if you choose so. And if you do not, we provide the AudioNetworks phenomenal algorithms which make the compressed solution practically indistinguishable from the original despite the 10 ratio of compression.
• The Wireless transfer into the receiver is also made as data (the same 0 and 1 combination) with an absolute control on reception accuracy (data is exactly what was sent or the data is sent again).
• The Receiver has a digital output (the same 0 and 1 as the original CD are sent to following Audio equipment.
• Because the Goldmund D/A converters are using a full reclocking, and because there is no ground connection between the Server and the Receiver, the output may be made 100% jitter-free, making the whole system the best CD player Goldmund has ever made, better than the Mimesis 36.

So, even if you want to play a Reference Full Epilogue in a secondary room where the Server is not located, do not worry. The quality will be absolutely top Goldmund Sound !

The only parameter we are not insisting too much on is the exact number of simultaneous thin clients or receivers that may play simultaneously different music out of the Chiasma without quality loss. This is directly linked to the wireless technology progress and we have more bandwidth literally every month. Expect 3 to 4 rooms with existing technology, more next years and so each year.

Since we use inexpensive absolutely-standard computer accessories for the RF part of our solution, the progression will be easy to make for all our Chiasma users, and quite inexpensive. Another advantage of the Goldmund Solution.

And what about Video ? Only a matter of time. We need to have more bandwidth again. With the Chiasma technology, we could already think of sending wireless one stream of Video, but this would be useless.

Again, the Chiasma is planned for Video extension without burden. Even the unit which is receiving your CD’s on the front panel is in fact a DVD ROM already, so you won’t have to change it…

What seems obvious is that Goldmund took all its competition by surprise, being the first company showing a total quality Wireless multi-room system.

Among the High End companies, this was not a surprise. We have been for long the most technologically advanced.

But before the big Japanese manufacturers ! That is something we are extremely proud of. Only a few “Multi-million Venture Capital DotCom” companies were showing simlar technologies at the CES.

The Chiasma 1 was expected as part of the top Multi-channel Processor from Goldmund for years.

Few months ago, we shown it with its Music Server additional function.

And now today as the center of a typical multi-room Home distribution system and Wireless.

As a Music Server the Chiasma 1 had already won over any competition with its unique features :

• Fastest Ripping in the industry (more than 15 times).
• Unique Gigabit Ethernet Network Storage extensibility pushing storage above anything ever thought of (We talk Petabyte when other talk Gigabyte, a 1,000,000 times advantage).
• Unique database classification system opening to free English query, multi index search and even speech recognition querying using only standard computer products.
• Unique compression quality using the AudioNetworks compression algorithm (and providing non-compressed music at the same time)
• Total control from wireless WebPads using standard Microsoft software.
• Totally silent operation using Sylans technology and Proprietary Sylans power supply for absolute sound quality without typical Computer noise Interference.
• Unlimited access to new music with access to our Goldmund private “Chiasma Club” (a typical legal Napster-like Internet Network to exchange CDs, but limited to Chiasma owners).

With its new Digital Multi-room Wireless distribution capabilities it is becoming the Absolute Component to have for any Goldmund system. No single customer friend we have around the world can resist the idea to have its CD collection on a Server. It is so much more practical. And what about sharing some of your music with other Chiasma users ? That’s where the Terabyte - PetaByte storage size starts to make sense.

Conclusion : the Chiasma is already the most demanded product of our line. We have a list of pre-reservation which is guaranteeing our success for this year at least and will probably drive us to change our production lines during the year to be able to produce the quantity we plan.
