With the multiplication of digital Video sources, it is becoming the only way to equip Video in High end systems. This is quite easy to understand. The DVD or or high quality broadcast sources (like HDTV) are all in digital format and most of the films and broadcasting are already made directly in digital. Processing, source switching and displaying must be kept 100% digital in order to avoid the dramatic degradation of limited quality A/D and D/A circuitry. After presenting the first worldwide DVI output in a DVD player with the Eidos 38D, Goldmund is now working on the next stage which is the Digital Video switching and routing. That’s what we call a DVR (Digital Video Router). Using technology issued from computers, it allows, when properly made, to switch between Digital Video sources and route them to the various Digital Video displays (DLP projectors or Plasma screens) without loosing the initial quality. The bandwidth being quite large, the quality of the circuitry is critical but there is no other way to switch between various Digital Video sources like DVD, Satellite Receivers or computers all equipped of DVI outputs without analogue conversion. A prototype of a simple Digital Video Router is already in use in our Swiss laboratory and will be visible in use in the Los Angeles Demo center in the coming weeks.

After 2 months of availability as a preserial for demonstrations only, the Goldmund Mimesis 24 is already a big success and ranks as the 4th best products sold today by Goldmund. First users and the demonstrations made in the Goldmund Demo Center in Los Angeles have shown a dramatic progress over competing other Multi-channel processors in sound quality and ease of use. Despite the fact we have not yet reached full production, we are already selling more units than we could produce.
