GOLDMUND - Swiss Made High-End Audio Equipment

The Eidos 36D Universal Player is based on the mechanical design made by Goldmund for the Eidos Reference Limited Edition. It incorporates the most advanced mechanical stabilization system of the optical pickup and a complete "Mechanical Grounding" reorganization of the transport mechanism.

The Eidos 36A, the CD/SACD-only player, benefits of the same mechnaical construction, pushing into the limit of a CD playback as it has never been before.

Both Units use extremely advanced D/A circuitry for CD/SACD and DVD Audio. They also provide an optimized 96kHz SPDIF Output to use with the Mimesis 24 and the best Optical fiber digital Audio output of the industry.

Technical Description

• The chassis of the Goldmund Eidos 36 is a strong, ultra-rigid brass and aluminum cell structure which receives the internal equipment of the unit. It uses the same "Mechanical Grounding" construction as the Eidos Reference with steel, brass and aluminum metal components.
• The transport itself is rigidly installed in - and coupled to - a heavy metal assembly initially designed for the Eidos Reference.
• The loading tray is machined in aluminum and teflon to guarantee a total absence of vibration and a perfect handling of the disc, but is totally decoupled from the main mechanism structure to avoid additional resonance as in the Eidos Reference.
• The reading process is further enhanced by a new principle applied by Goldmund and called the "Goldmund Magnetic Damper". Using a magnetic field to damp the reading mechanism guarantees a much smoother move of the laser focusing device and provides a much more accurate information retrieval.
• 5 Video outputs are provided in standard :

• The digital Audio output is provided on :
  1. 1 x RCA SPDIF 75 Ohms connector in 44k/48k.
  2. 1 x XLR balanced connector in 44k/48k.
  3. 1 x ATT Optical fiber connector in 44k/48k.
  4. 1 x RCA SPDIF 75 Ohms connector in 96kHz 24 bits.
• The power supply uses 6 separate transformers with built-in Goldmund "AC-Curator" circuitry. Each separate voltage of the power supply is fully regulated and filtered separately using the Goldmund technique of "Warm Regulator" for a very smooth voltage filtering.
• The front and side panels of the unit are finished in silver anodized aluminum.
