The Epilogue Full System
- The Epilogue 3 is the Sub-Bass unit of the Epilogue system.
- It may be used in addition to the Epilogue 1 (2 pairs) and the Epilogue 2, as the sub-woofer section in the full system. But it may also be associated (usually then as a single sub-bass unit) with a single pair of satellites to constitute a very high-end Hi-Fi or Home-Theater full range system, another possible step in the Epilogue modular line of speakers.
- Its fully metallic enclosure mixing aluminum and steel parts allows a rigidity never achieved before with any kind of other materials in a sub-woofer design. Seals in neoprene between all adjacent parts guarantee the enclosure airtightness without aging degradation.
- The Mechanical Grounding construction provides a perfect evacuation of the enclosure's vibrations, increasing dramatically the dynamic accuracy of the bass. The Mechanical Grounding is linked by its internal structure to the Satellite system sitting on the top.
- The Epilogue 3 uses the same "Velvet Kevlar" 21cm proprietary drivers as the Epilogue 2 but in a 8 drivers, 4x2 push-pull configuration. The chassis of the four front drivers are facing the listener.
- The Epilogue 3 uses a built-in amplifier of the Mimesis range with 650 Watts maximum power. It also provides an electronic crossover with 3 possible cutoff frequency to associate the Epilogue 3 with various other configurations.
- In the Full Epilogue system the Epilogue 3 has a very specific role of reinforcing the power capability in the very low frequencies (20-30Hz band) where infra-sound in some recordings are usually saturating the rooms and the conventional subwoofers with inaccurate boominess.
- The extreme speed of the Epilogue woofers and the very tight control provided by the built-in amplifier are providing a much tighter, lighter almost airy sound to this critical range of frequencies, even at extreme levels.
