The Goldmund Epilogue1 Satellite System is the first unit of the Epilogue System. It is a full range small enclosure with exceptionally extended low frequency (cutoff < 34 Hz), which can be used as a stand-alone, extremely accurate full-range HiFi or Home-Theater speaker.
Today, the Signature version (and Signature upgrade) of the Epilogue 1 has been released for clients who wish to benefit from the Goldmund Proteus technology.
The Epilogue 1 is built entirely in metal. Goldmund uses the best mix of hard-brass, soft-brass, aluminum and steel to create a perfect application of the Goldmund "Mechanical Grounding" rules. Its satin aluminum finish also matches Goldmund other fine equipment.
The full metal construction allows a perfect upgrading capability. Each part, woofer, tweeter, crossover, finish panel, etc… can be easily exchanged without any damage to the integrity of the cabinet - an impossible assumption in a wood assembled box. Seals in neoprene between all adjacent parts guarantee the enclosure air tightness without aging degradation even if parts are dismounted several times. It will allow the Epilogue to remain unchanged in its structure for a lifetime, with elements like the drivers and crossovers being easily upgraded when technology permits.
The Epilogue1 is a passive two way system which is provided with an internal passive crossover of extreme sophistication (more than 110 special elements) in its standard version. Separate amplifier input for each section is standard. It also provides an HF high-power connectors for the Goldmund Speaker Cable direct connection. Thanks to its unique metal construction, the Epilogue1 is easily upgraded to Epilogue 1 Signature, allowing the use of the Proteus Technology.
Goldmund provides a Mechanical Grounding foot system for those who will use the Epilogue 1 as a single speaker system. When coupled with the Epilogue 2 Woofer system, the Epilogue 1 Satellite will use the frame provided in option with the Epilogue 2 for perfect mechanical coupling to the woofer section.
The Epilogue 1 Signature version is also a passive speaker but it includes no crossover to allow the use of the Goldmund Proteus Technology. 2 amplifiers per speaker are needed to control its drivers. The crossovers are then achieved in the digital domain; they are loaded in a Goldmund preamplifier such as the Mimesis 16, Mimesis 16HD, Mimesis 32 or Metis 10. The Epilogue 1 Signature has the same construction and mechanical grounding characteristics as the standard Epilogue 1, except for a slightly improved external mechanical loading for its tweeter.
