The Goldmund Epilogue 2 Signature is the latest version of the Epilogue 2 Low-frequency speaker section. A new pair of drivers allows it to achieve a more extended low-frequency response but also to play at the higher level required for the use of an Epilogue Speaker System in a Home-Theater environment. It has also been designed to support the Proteus technology for 2-channel systems and for the latest generation of Goldmund Media Rooms.
The Epilogue 2 Signature may be used as the middle section in the full Epilogue system but may also be associated with a single pair of Epilogue 1 satellites to constitute a very high-end Hi-Fi or Home-Theater full range system, the second step of the Epilogue line of modular speakers.
The Mechanical Grounding construction provides a perfect evacuation of the enclosure's spurious vibrations, increasing dramatically the dynamic accuracy of the satellite. The Mechanical Grounding is linked by its internal structure to the Satellite system sitting on the top.
Its fully metallic enclosure mixing brass, aluminum and steel parts allows a level of rigidity never achieved before with any kind of other materials. Seals in neoprene between all adjacent parts guarantee the enclosure air tightness without aging degradation. The enclosure uses a very original proprietary driver configuration: 2 x 25 cm drivers mounted in push-pull with front speaker mounted backwards.
The Epilogue 2 signature is a passive speaker with a crossover network of very high complexity (120 elements) which has two functions:
The Epilogue 1 and Epilogue 2 Signature when used in combination can be bi-wired or bi-amped using the two separate crossover inputs for low frequency and high-frequency sections.
A switch is provided to disconnect the built-in crossover when the Epilogue 2 Signature is used in a Proteus-controlled configuration where the crossovers are built in the electronics and a power amplifier is directly connected to the drivers.
Two direct coaxial connectors of the same standard used in the Goldmund Ultra-High Definition speaker cable allow the direct connection to the two sections of the Epilogue 1S + Epilogue 2 signature speaker system, minimizing the detrimental effects of bad connections such as bananas and spades. In addition, a third coaxial connector is provided to link the Epilogue 1 Satellite System to the Epilogue 2 Crossover.
The enclosure is vented by two separately tuned flexible ports, vent oriented toward the face of the enclosure. The cutoff frequency in the Epilogue 2 is 23Hz at -3 dB.
